Playing with baby

We often say it: all activities with bébé are an opportunity for him to learn and grow. Well, with games, it's exactly the same thing!

Of course, during his first few months, as baby is not yet able to learn, we will have to adapt the content of the game to his ability to learn. Songs, faces, hide and seek behind the hands, there is no shortage of fun and simple ideas! Bath time and even moments of relaxation are all opportunities to share simple games that are so important for his cognitive development and his health.

Let's see how to play with your little angel by giving her the opportunity to be gently stimulated on a daily basis.

How to play with baby from 0 to 3 months?

When he is not yet old enough to learn life with his hands, bé needs attention and contact with his parents. Everything is a source of learning and vigilance for him.

From his birth to 3 months, the slightest opportunity to play or to make him interact is good to take.

Here are some examples:

  • In the bath, with the help of a récipient, fill it with water that you will gently trickle all over his body. You'll see that babies love it. It helps them learn about their bodies.
  • After getting out of the bath, on his changing table, press your palms on the soles of his feet. Naturally, bé tries to push the hands away. You can play around with him to gently stimulate his motor skills and muscle tone.
  • Sing! Do not hesitate to hum little tunes (even if they are made up). Over time, you will notice that he reacts to different notes and intonations. This participates in his cognitive development as well.
  • Balance yourself when you carry him. Your child well installed in your arms, do not hesitate to swing or dance gently. You will see, beyond the soporific effect of this method, that your child feels his body move. He becomes little aware of it.

As long as he can’t grasp objects, it is not useful to overload him with toys. Take soft toys or stuffed animals whose touch will reassure him. What baby needs as a child are cuddly toys!

Create a pleasant environment

Installing a mobile above his bed is a good idea.

If he is not sleeping, your child may be attracted by the movements, colors and shapes of the suspension. This will help him/her perceive his/her environment and feel safe. At the same time, put some decorative items on his changing table or in his room. As the weeks go by, he becomes more and more aware of it. Creating a cheerful and colorful world for him contributes to his awareness and openness to the world.

Of course, during their first few months, many things happen to children. However, talking to them, humming to them, or even dancing softly when they are in your arms is part of their development. If you need to choose toys for your child under 3 months old:

  • Mobile or suspension of different shapes and colors.

From 3 to 6 months, baby becomes more playful

Passing the age of 3 months, b&eacute's motor skills are still imperfect, of course, but he is starting to wiggle around!
Here are some games and activities à to do in daily life :

  • Install bébé à flat belly on a rug : the textures and colors of these accessories are thought to stimulate the touch and attention of the child’s. On his stomach, he will naturally try to raise his head and move. In terms of motor skills, these movements are important.
  • A musical toy: this is also the place where your baby will start to get interested in the slightest toy. If he makes noise and lights, little by little your little angel will try to make it work on his own.
  • Give him his first rattle  as soon as the grip begins to be more honest, bé will love playing with a rattle. The sounds and movements it makes will keep him entertained.
  • Play some music during your bonding time: music softens hearts, but it also keeps the senses alive! Don't forget to listen to music at night. And don't be ashamed, even if you sing out of tune, bébé adore !
  • Sit bébé holding it with one hand : à this âge, bébé bartering begins à to muscle. By sitting him down, you will stimulate his muscle tone and motor skills. A hand in support behind the back, he will seek to stand up straight, all alone, like a big man.
  • Read a small book together : sitting on you, facing the book, read with bé. Tell him the story and point out the different characters and the flow of actions. Little by little, he will enjoy it.

It is only idées and examples, but each aims à to make your little shrimp a great ! You'll see that each activity will quickly capture his full attention. This is how he will start to grow up.

Playing with baby from 6 to 12 months

At this point, it all comes together!

Normally, once bébé is going to try to sit up, it will even start to get off its back on all fours. Let's go for the cavalcades in the house! The toys are starting to interest him, as he can finally hold the loose ones. B is also starting to make himself heard. Of course, he doesn't speak yet, but he knows that he can (or will) communicate. The babbling and gibberish begins.

Over and above his toys, bé is always up for games with his parents.

  • When bébé walks on all fours, do the same ! By imitating him and pretending to follow him, you will see that your little one takes off. He'll have more control over his movements and will try to get out of the way as soon as he can. Encourage him through your games.
  • Read books together : now that he can snuggle up against you in a sitting position, bé will definitely love it when you read books to him. Involve him in the discussion. Ask him questions (where is the rabbit on the page, where is the chicken hiding, etc.). You'll see, interactive reading is really great for béveil;.
  • In his playpen, let him play: when he is quietly in his playpen, put him on his stomach, surrounded by some toys. Quickly he will try to seize them and will begin to play alone.

Good to know
compassionate moments and parent/child activities are important, so don't rush to let bé play alone. Without his playpen, on his sleeping mat, or in his bed, baby starts to invent his own world. His imagination is at work, and that’s so much the better for the future.

  • Inserting games and toys: through these games, bé will begin to manipulate objects of different shapes and materials. Show him the example by fitting 2 objects together, then let him do it. Very quickly, he will try his turn. In terms of awareness and understanding, this is ideal.
  • Imitate each other! Make sure to imitate your little one, and encourage them to do the same. Hello with your hands, send a kiss, say goodbye with your hands, you will see, he will love it.

Get inspired and improvise!

As a parent, we often wonder if we’re doing things right.

When it comes to play and watching, take inspiration from the tips we just gave you, but most importantly, improvise ! Let your intuition and imagination speak for themselves. You will realize that everything can be a game with bébé.

The key is to take the time to create moments of complicity with your child, the rest will happen (almost) by itself !

Have fun !
